    Did you ever get a solution to this problem? I run into it occasionally going through a proxy server. I have also gotten the error using Internet Explorer as well. It seems to be between the client and the proxy server, as there is no trace of the request on the server

    Brad,

    No luck. I was unable to directly issue AJAX requests against WCF endpoints from SharePoint. I ended up writing ASP.NET WS proxies. For whatever reason, AJAX->ASP.NET WS works fine.

  3. “Message is empty” error could be your are calling WCF url but not passing needed arguments. You have always to double check the full url, port and sent parameters
